Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and how you stay in control.
Last updated: October 2, 2026
1. Who we are
cutting tool is a Premiere Pro editing panel published by an independent developer based in India. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our website, our Premiere Pro plugin, and our licensing service.
2. What we collect
We keep collection to what's needed to run the product:
- Account/license data: your email address, license key, purchase date, plan, and device activation label — collected when you buy a license.
- Payment data: handled entirely by Razorpay, our payment processor. We never see or store your card, UPI, or bank details — only the order ID, amount, and payment status Razorpay reports back to us.
- Usage data inside the plugin: editing runs on your own computer, inside Premiere Pro and our engine installed on your PC — your video and audio are not uploaded for it. The plugin contacts our server to check your license and, when you use them, for the optional AI features and Google Drive features below.
- AI features (optional, only when you press their button): AI captions send the audio of the part you chose; titles, posts & content, translation and caption layout send the transcript text. They pass through our server to the AI service doing the work — ElevenLabs (speech-to-text) and Google Gemini (text). We record how many credits each job used. We do not keep your audio; the AI answer is kept for at most one hour so the panel can collect it.
- Google sign-in and Google Drive (optional): if you sign in with Google we receive your name and email address. If you connect Google Drive, cutting tool uses the drive.file permission: it can only see files it created itself, in a "cutting tool" folder in your Drive. Your saved library clips and your brand kits (fonts, colours, logo) are stored there, in your Drive, not on our server; we keep only which file holds them.
- Anonymous usage counts and error reports from the plugin: to see which tools are used and fix problems, the plugin sends counts such as "the captions tool was opened" or "a cut finished with 40 cuts", the plugin version, a random ID made on your computer (not linked to your account or licence), and short error messages (with file paths, names and transcript text removed). Error reports pass through our server to Sentry, our error-tracking service. No footage, transcripts, emails, licence keys or IP addresses are kept. Turn on Settings › "Only use my PC" in the plugin and nothing is sent.
- Website analytics: basic, aggregate page-visit data, if analytics is enabled — no personally identifying data is tied to it.
3. What we don't collect
We do not collect your project footage or exported videos. Pause trimming, English transcripts and captions, zooms, the podcast tools and clip finding run on your computer — cutting tool is not a cloud editing service. Audio leaves your PC only for AI captions, and only when you ask for them.
The diagnostics report (Help › Save a report in the panel) is saved on your computer. It reaches us only if you choose to email it, and it has no media, transcripts or licence key.
4. How we use your data
- To issue and verify your license key.
- To email you your license key, receipts, and important product updates.
- To provide support when you contact us.
- To detect and prevent license misuse (e.g., a key being shared beyond its permitted device activations).
We do not sell your data to third parties.
5. Third-party services
We use Razorpay for payment processing (subject to Razorpay's own privacy policy), Sentry for error reports (as above), standard email delivery to send license keys and receipts, Google for sign-in and (if you connect it) Google Drive, and, for the optional AI features, ElevenLabs (speech-to-text) and Google Gemini (text). Each receives only what its job needs. No other third parties receive your data.
cutting tool's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from your Google Drive is used only to save and load your own library items and brand kits; it is not used for advertising, not sold, and not used to train AI models.
6. Data retention
We keep license and order records for as long as your license is active, and for a reasonable period after for accounting and support purposes, in line with Indian tax record-keeping requirements.
7. Your rights
You can request a copy of the data we hold on your email/license key, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account data (subject to legal record-keeping requirements) by writing to hello.cuttingtool@gmail.com.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify active license holders by email.
